LIME WITH LORNE: REVIEW AND SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS

“Lime with Lorne” is a multi-dimensional, multi-disciplinary, consultative and issues-driven model. It is exclusive to the Lorne campaign but not exclusionary. It has a striking resemblance to Jamaica’s PJ Patterson’s “Live and Direct” success story; but it is better. At the heart of “Lime with Lorne” is the core principle of social inclusion through people’s participation and empowerment! That may well be a democratic model that all St. Lucia may want to emulate.
JETRINE: STILL WOUNDED AND NEVER ATTENDED TO

LIME WITH LORNE TEAM WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES
“Lime with Lorne” involves discussions and consultations on all aspects of peoples’ lives: be it economics, politics, sociology, religion, music and education. However, despite its many dimensions, it can be summarized in one simple phrase: “to educate and be educated”; and that’s why it is perhaps so successful and also the reason why targeted small group discussions unexpectedly turn out to be public meetings.

Education came to the fore at one of the brainstorming “Lime with Lorne” consultations, when a community organizer asked Lorne to quantify his contributions to Choiseul/Saltibus so far. At the completion of the brainstorming exercise, a major discovery was made:

“Comparatively speaking, Lorne’s personal contribution to the development of Choiseul/Saltibus was more significant, more meaningful and more impactful than all of Rufus Bousquet’s boastful ‘achievements’ combined”

Now! that looks like another Tucker “Ti Canal” bluff. But before you go any further let me quickly disabuse your minds.
LORNE AND JIMMY HAVE A LIME

First of all, development is measured by the impact it has on people’s lives; secondly, and it must be meaningful and sustainable.  For example,  the RDP “cost-overrun” roads from Soufriere to Black Bay; the tertiary roads network from Victoria to Mongouge, La Pointe, Delcer; the Morne Sion road; the Cafeiere/Dugard etc; the Telecommunication revolution; universal secondary education; the Piaye and Choiseul secondary schools; the Choiseul Fisheries and the Village coastline mitigation project - all have significant impact on the lives of Choiseulians and they are all meaningful and sustainable, that is, impact will be last for a long, long time.

This is the legacy on which Lorne has to build. But the question is: in the interim, what has Lorne done to warrant him to potentially qualify for the Village Hall of Fame?

LORNE LISTENS TO THE VOICES
It cannot be his “blood” relationships; it cannot be his parents’ and ancestor’s unquantifiable contribution. It has to be his own record.

Lorne spent about $200,000 of his own personal savings to help victims of Tomas in so many ways. In addition, he brought down roving medical personnel to help attend to the sick and the shut-in. But most of all, since the campaign began, he has given significant legal aid and advice to the constituents and even representing them in both low and high court.
LORNE'S ROAD HAD BEEN BLOCKED FOR YEARS

Because of his commitment to health care, he will continue with ongoing medical clinics. He is passionate about UHC because he is aware of not only the cost of health care, but also the magnitude of the health problems confronting us, ranging from diabetes and hypertension to potential affliction with HIV/AIDs especially among our youth. While some ungracious politicians are busy spreading HIV/AIDS, Lorne is looking for solutions for that problem.

Lorne will also establish a legal aid clinic. Based on his research and anecdotal data emanating from “Lime with Lorne” consultations, Lorne has put together a profile of legal problems plaguing Choiseul/Saltibus. To that end, a team of five of our best legal practitioners has been recruited to help the constituents resolve some of their legal issues.

DONATION OF CRICKET GEAR TO YOUTH
Lorne has unwaveringly supported supports and culture in the village and beyond. He has contributed much sporting gear and equipment to the youth of Choiseul and Saltibus.

He has assisted the poor by donating supplies and equipment to help them in the reconstruction of homes post-Tomas. He has also helped in road repairs in a couple of the hinterland communities.

When you add up all of the above, you get a pretty good idea of Lorne’s contribution to his constituents. But this is the beginning. Now compare the sum total of Tucker’s Ti canal projects with those human development programmes by Lorne.

Lorne is well on his way to providing – according to Damian Greaves – Total Quality Representation (TQR) to all Choiseul/Saltibus.

  1. You hit the nail on the head, sir. In all, Tucker received over 7 million dollars from Taiwan. What has he done with that money? You can see what he has done with it. I don't think he has spent a million yet. all has gone into his pocket. Look he bought a 2-million dollar mansion at the landings cash. He also bought shares at the Baywalk. He has also invested in developments in and out of St. Lucia. This man is a thief big time.

he has only spent the crumbs building ti canal for us. lorne has invested much more in Choiseul/saltibus than Tucker. The man is a crook. Don't you all know that? The only place he cannot buy property because he was deported. He can only go to the states because of diplomatic immunity. You all should chase him out of Choiseul/saltibus.
