JAMAICAN DANCEHALL ENTERTAINER BUSY SIGNAL CHARGED

KINGSTON, Jamaica, Tuesday February 5, 2013 - The police have charged well known dancehall entertainer Glendale Gordon, better known as “Busy Signal”, for obtaining passports in a false name.

The charges stemmed from his arrest in 2012 on an extradition warrant.

Following his arrest, it was disclosed, that he had unlawfully obtained three Jamaican passports in the name Reanno Gordon, which he used in his travels overseas as an entertainer.

Busy Signal returned to Jamaica late last year, after serving time in a US prison.

In July of last year, Busy pleaded guilty to one count of failing to appear in court, admitting that he left the United States 10 years ago, before a scheduled trial on drug charges.

He was previously charged in February 2002, with two counts related to cocaine trafficking, which carried a sentence of at least 15 years in prison.

Although there was a warrant out for his arrest, he returned to Jamaica and established a successful career, until his detention in London in May last year while on tour.

He was returned to Jamaica where he was arrested and later extradited to the United States where he served a six month prison sentence.

Concerning his latest run in with the law, Busy Signal is scheduled to appear before the Corporate Area Criminal Court on Tuesday for a plea and case management hearing. (CMC)
