VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IN HON DALSON: HE IS AS SOLID AS A ROCK

While UWP was gallivanting in the Village of Anse-La-Raye on Sunday afternoon, the people of Soufriere were attending to serious business at the Rainforest Disco, Ravine Claire.

At a massive town hall meeting at the Rainforest Disco on Sunday afternoon, a motion of confidence was moved in Hon Harold Dalson for the quality representation he has been giving to Soufriere/Fond St. Jacques over the last 4 ½ years. The vote was overwhelming and unanimous.

The motion was tabled for a number of reasons:
1.   Soufrierians were fed up with the blatant and naked disrespect that the government and Mr Chastenet meted out to their legitimate parliamentary rep.

2.   Soufrierians viewed that disrespect as an attempt to marginlise their legitimate leader and they construed Chastenet’s activities as attempts to overthrow Hon Dalson in a subtle and disgraceful coup d'etat.
3.   The insult coming from the Chastenet camp that Soufriere people were cursed.

4.   The support and empathy for the eleven tourism hostesses fired by Chastenet
5.   To voice their rejection of the one-day representation offered by Chastenet even when he is illegitimate; they claim they want 5 years sustainable representation; not representation for a day.
6.   Soufriere is not for sale to any highest bidder; Soufriere belongs the people of Soufriere
7.   The continued dishonesty of Mr Chastenet, not learning from the lessons of the Appellate court ruling against him. One speaker said that Dalson had far more respect in one finger that Chastenet had in his whole body!
8.   Chastenet, even as a minister of government, didn’t have credibility in the eyes of the US Embassy. He recommended a lady for a Visa to facilitate her attendance to a funeral in the US and the embassy turned her down.

Hon Harold Dalson seized the opportunity to outline a litany of false and dishonest claims of ownership of Gov’t projects by Chastenet, who has been going around telling people that the following projects are his:
BRO SAM MAKES A STRONG POINT
-      Repairs to street
-      Soufriere bridge
-      Footpaths and foot bridges
-      Esperance Water project
-      Soufriere Playing field
-      Cressland Bridge.

Hon Dalson also outlined his vision which included:
-      Infrastructural works at Fond St. Jacques, Columbette and a number of communities in Soufriere
HON DALSON'S HOMETOWN
-      “Rediscovering” the tourism product to bring greater benefits to more Soufrierians. This will include town beautification to improve physical ambiance and improved infrastructure; improved appearance  at all view points; upgrade and beautification of road leading to the sulphur springs; sewerage system to minimise pollution of the harbour and Humming Bird beach; introduction of hospitality as part of curriculum; assistance to land and water taxi operators etc;
-      Provide support and assistance to farmers and fisherman;
-      Implement social transformation programmes with emphasis on social safety nets and social protection for the vulnerable (especially poor, the sick and the elderly); a state of the art human resource centre with an interpretation centre;
-      Improved management and maximization of youth and sports facilities and better youth and sports progammes;
-      Education and Health: Working within the framework of UHC and USE, ensure (a) the quality health care services are delivered and (b) the maximization of opportunities provided by USE  and universal pre-school education, throughout the Soufriere constituency.

Finally, a plan to pay tribute to the Fond St Jacques and Columbette on the anniversary of the passage of Tomas was discussed and approved.

  1. Well done Mose. I commend you for the continuous appeal for better roads, and protection from the river waters to assist the people of Soufriere. I listen to you calling on the Government to repair the damaged road infrastructure, asking LUCELEC to bring the power to the hurricane Tomas victims. I've heard you and I'm proud of you. I wish I could say the same for our rep in Choiseul. All he does is create division amongst a peace loving people as he continues with his "divide and rule" philosophy.

  2. Chastenet dishonesty under the microscope again. He had the audacity to tell us that the Taiwanese gave the Flambeau $120 million dollars free. We hope when the time comes he will also tell us how much he got and what he did with it. He must understand that even when that money did not go into the Consolidated Fund, it is being used to construct public property, albeit there is no public accountability. Before we convert those projects into public property, we will have to do a comprehensive audit (with Mr Choo still being around).

    We will need to know how much went into each ministers personal account.
