MA AUSTINE (BROOKLYN'S MUM) SHARES A MOMENT WITH LORNE |
Lorne continued his focused visits – Lime with Lorne - over the weekend. This time his target was the elderly, sick and shut-in. It was heartbreaking to see the conditions that some elderly people live under. Poverty is perhaps issue number one. Health care is perhaps issue number two. A caring government would have put those issues at the top of the agenda.

MR PISHO TAKES LORNE FOR A WALK AROUND |
Those issues have special relevance for Choiseul/Saltibus who is perhaps made worse by massive rural-urban migration. The consequences are not only a massive brain drain but also the loss of our young and able-bodied age cohort; hence, many of the elderly, the sick and shut-in are left to fend on their own in poverty and hopelessness.
In roundtable discussions with the social agencies a few years ago, the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) highlighted the potentially serious nature of that problem and the need to address it with a measure of agency. The result was the formulation of a new initiative for the construction of a state of the art Day Care Centre/Home for the elderly in Reunion, Choiseul; but like all other good projects, it has fizzled out.

LORNE SPENDS A MOMENT WITH A FAMILY FRIEND |
Lorne has pledged his unshakeable commitment to the care of the elderly and all major vulnerable groups. He has indicated that issues related to them will rank high on his priority list during his tenure in government. He has reaffirmed his firm commitment to Universal Health Care (UHC) - which this government murdered - as a platform for bringing quality health care to all and sundry in Choiseul/Saltibus, especially the elderly and the poor who need it the most.
