The headquarters for hard-hitting discussion on issues and sharing of up-to-date information deemed to be relevant to Choiseul/Saltibus and the St. Lucian diaspora generally. The mainstream news media have not always lived up to our expectations in publishing our views or news and information about us. The POWERHOUSE attempts to fill that gap. We encourage everyone, everywhere to participate by sharing news, views, ideas and opinions about any topic of relevance.
The Choiseul PowerHouse is “powering ahead” in Cyberspace with the speed of light. Some claim we are hard-hitting and controversial; some claim we are intellectual and academic! Some even claim we are political! Everybody is right! We are all of those things! We have a diverse global audience and it is our pleasure to stimulate your intellectual taste buds and we make no apologies for that. The bottomline is we are independent and have no affinity to any organisation: political or otherwise! We will continue to publish our "power articles"
We wish to extend special thanks to followers for their support. We also encourage you to post your comments and feedback on the Blog using the comments link following the Articles.

'LIME WITH LORNE' ROLLED INTO GERTRINE
LORNE IS A VERY GOOD LISTENER
LORNE MAKING A POINT
The race for the Choiseul/Saltibus seat has an interesting configuration – and one which our analyst at the POWERHOUSE has put under the microscope. As the ambivalent Bradley continues to mess up with his indecision, Lorne is going into the other direction with education and enlightenment. In the end, the contest will boil down to a battle between indecision and proactivity.
At the moment, proactivity seems to be winning – and indeed, it won the hearts of the residents of Gertrine when an impromptu “Lime with Lorne” rolled into the community.
THE GATHERING ENJOYED THE NIGHT
Scores of enthusiastic participants roped in and at the end of the evening, Lorne had recorded another resounding success. The venue was much too small and many ‘Lime with Lorne” participants overflowed into the road and adjacent spaces. It is clear that Gertrine needs a proper human resource facility where members of that lovely community can congregate to exchange ideas and to relax. Lorne plans to deliver.
INDEED! LORNE WAS VERY CHARISMATIC
The road leading into Gertrine will also be getting attention. While the drains were attended to, the carriageway has a few potholes, but commuting isn't a challenge.
Despite the impromptu nature of the meeting, by the time Lorne arrived, there was already a packed audience in waiting. The former district rep Ferguson John wasted no time in getting the ball rolling. (No doubt, the Flambeaus have awakened a sleeping lion and for this election, they will have to contend with real Forgetus power.)
THE CROWD OVERFLOWED IN ALL DIRECTIONS
Lorne continued to articulate his vision and plans for the constituency and specifically for Saltibus and Gertrine. He outlined his plans for physical and community infrastructure. He indicated that the rehabilitation of the Saltibus main road leading into Gertrine will be a major priority and will be undertaken under RDP 4. He also made reference to the O’Park/Guyabois link road and his plans for its development.
VERY IMPRESSED WITH SLP'S LEAP
The economy and employment were heavily “weighed in” with the emphasis on JOBS, JOBS! JOBS! Lorne elaborated on SLP’s “LEAP” programme and also touched on employment, especially sustainable employment for the youth and able-bodied men and women.
The issues of UHC, USE and Universal pre-school education were also discussed.
HE WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT LORNE'S HEALTH CARE PLANS
During the “Question and Answer” segment, many other issues were raised. One on them was the concrete part of the road recently built inside Gertrine. Some residents raised technical issues relating to the vertical alignments and drainage engineering which they claimed have resulted in runoff into people’s yards and property when it rains. Lorne said he was aware of those issues and that he will attend to them in due course.
HE ASKED: WHY ARE THE PIAYE LANDS COST PROHIBITIVE?
The issue of the Piaye/Balembouche PROUD Programme also came up for discussion. Gertrine residents complained that the price of those lands has skyrocketed from $1 per square foot to $6 per square foot since this government came into power, rendering them incapable of purchasing those lots. Lorne’s Campaign manager, Dr Charles, who was a former Chairman of the Development explained the reason: PROUD was dissolved and all land under the programme were transferred to NDC.
The meeting was very focused and successful. The participants walked out feeling educated and enlightened.
